The Village of Waterloo is holding an election for two Village Trustee positions on Tuesday, March 18, 2025. We are fortunate to have two very good Republican candidates running: John Butlak and Jason Godley.
John is a current Village Trustee who has eight years of experience on the Village Board, having worked alongside a bipartisan panel of village members for the best interest of the community. John is a fiscally responsible representative who has advocated to keep taxes under control while exploring ways to increase revenue. Having been a long-time resident of Waterloo where he has raised his family and continues to work as a local store manager, he lives with decisions made by village government so is well aware of its impact. He and the village board secured a $10 million DRI grant for improvements that will soon be visible to all. He will continue to represent Waterloo residents’ best interests while growing the Village’s presence.
Jason Godley is a newcomer to village government but not to Waterloo community needs. He is a lifetime Waterloo resident and served on the village police force for 23 years, having been a school resource officer and Chief of Police. He owns a business in Waterloo’s downtown and raises his family here. He continues to contribute to the village’s youth through coaching for various school sports teams. Jason has experience on various boards, managing budgets and working with people having differing opinions. His committment to Waterloo is evident in his saying, “It takes a community to raise a village”.
Both of these Waterloo residents are willing to serve our community through sound, common-sense thinking. Ours is not a wealthy community when measured by dollars, but is definitely one rich in history and quality of life. They will both work to enrich the lives of community residents through fiscal responsibility and growth.
