Cayuga County man accused of threatening person, assaulting deputies during domestic

A Sterling man was arrested after allegedly threatening harm to a victim and assaulting deputies during a domestic incident, according to the Cayuga County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies responded to a residence in the Town of Sterling on February 28 at approximately 6:18 p.m. for a reported domestic dispute. Upon arrival, officers determined that Brett A. Dennison, 39, had made threats of physical harm. Due to his actions and statements, Dennison was detained at the scene and transported to Auburn Community Hospital for evaluation.

While in custody, authorities say Dennison kicked and spat on deputies. After being treated and released from the hospital, he was arrested on two outstanding warrants for harassment in the second degree, along with an additional charge of obstructing governmental administration in the second degree.

Dennison was arraigned in CAP Court on March 4 at 7 p.m. and released on his own recognizance. He was scheduled to appear in Sterling Town Court on March 12 at 4 p.m. to answer the charges.
