An Auburn man has been arrested for allegedly stealing thousands of dollars’ worth of power tools from a Home Depot in the Town of Aurelius over the course of several days, according to the Cayuga County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies launched an investigation on February 21 in coordination with the Auburn City Police Department, which was already investigating the same suspect. Authorities identified the suspect as 54-year-old Steven M. Confer.
Investigators determined that Confer had entered the Home Depot on multiple occasions, exiting each time with stolen power tools. The total value of the stolen items amounted to $3,397.
Confer was arrested on March 10 and charged with grand larceny in the third degree, a felony. He was remanded to the Cayuga County Jail without bail and is also facing additional charges from the Auburn City Police Department.
