The Buffalo Sabres (25-32-6) ended their six-game winless streak with a 3-2 victory over the Edmonton Oilers (37-23-4) on Monday night at KeyBank Center.
Tage Thompson led the way with two goals, including the game-winner in the third period, bringing his season total to 33. Alex Tuch also found the net, marking his 25th goal and ninth in the last 11 games. Josh Norris contributed his first point as a Sabre with an assist on Thompson’s deciding goal.
Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen was solid in net, stopping 32-of-34 shots.
Jason Zucker returned to action after missing six games due to a lower-body injury, logging 13:53 of ice time with a plus-one rating.
For the Oilers, defensemen Darnell Nurse and Evan Bouchard provided the scoring, while Leon Draisaitl assisted on both goals. Stuart Skinner made 19 saves on 22 shots in the loss.
Next, the Sabres will head to Detroit to face the Red Wings on Wednesday at 7:30 p.m.
