For the second consecutive year, the Bloomfield girls’ basketball team clinched a sectional championship, defeating Caledonia-Mumford 64-47 in the Class C1 Final on Saturday afternoon at Finger Lakes Community College. The victory marks the program’s 14th sectional title.
The third-seeded Bombers (17-7) came out firing, building a commanding 25-5 lead by the end of the first quarter. However, the top-seeded Raiders (19-5) responded with a strong second quarter, outscoring Bloomfield 24-11 to cut the deficit to seven at halftime. Bloomfield regained control in the second half, outscoring Caledonia-Mumford 28-18 to secure the win.
Senior Lily Baughman led the charge for Bloomfield, finishing with a game-high 23 points and earning the Class C1 Most Valuable Player award. Calla McCombs added 15 points, while Annie Dodge contributed 13. Sydney Falsone also chipped in with eight points.
Caledonia-Mumford was paced by Hazell Nickerson with 15 points, followed by Ava Amorese with 12, Shea Drazkowski with 10, and Emma Borgan with eight.
With the victory, Bloomfield advances to face Keshequa in the Class C regional qualifier on Tuesday at 6 p.m. at Mount Morris High School.
