Titled “Artificial Intelligence: Friend or Foe?”, the panel will bring together three distinguished faculty members to discuss how AI is shaping education and their approaches to integrating or managing its presence in the classroom. The event will take place in the Hawkins Lounge of the Dahlstrom Student Center.

The panelists—Clinical Assistant Professor of Occupational Therapy Dr. Cassie Hey ’04 M’07, Associate Professor of English Dr. Steven Kapica, and Associate Provost and Associate Professor of Spanish Dr. Malia Spofford-Xavier—were selected by the College’s Professional Standards Committee (PSC) in recognition of their excellence in teaching and academic achievement.

During the hour-long discussion, the faculty members will share their experiences with AI in education, discuss best practices, and respond to audience questions.

“The PSC chose the topic of Artificial Intelligence for this semester’s panel because AI is becoming increasingly more relevant to faculty and students,” said Professor of History Dr. Christopher Leahy, who chairs the committee. “While we recognize that there is not time during the panel discussion to cover every aspect of AI in the educational setting, we are confident that by sharing their experiences with AI, the panelists will move the conversation forward and offer helpful insights.”

The event will be moderated by Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs Dr. Heather Maldonado. All members of the Keuka College community are encouraged to attend and engage in the discussion on the future of AI in education.
