Brubaker set to become WGHS principal in 2026

  • Staff Report

Watkins Glen High School science teacher Marcy Brubaker will transition over the next year to become the school’s principal, according to officials. She will replace Kyle Colunio, who is departing to lead South Seneca Central School District. In the interim, Jamie Harter will take over as principal on March 17.

Brubaker, a longtime WGHS educator, will continue teaching through the current school year. In July 2025, she will begin working as an administrative intern alongside Harter to gain hands-on leadership experience. She will officially assume full principal responsibilities on February 2, 2026.

Brubaker has been an integral part of the school community for over two decades, serving as a teacher, mentor, and cheerleading coach. The district believes her experience and leadership will ensure a smooth transition and continued success.
