The title drought has ended for the Honeoye boys basketball team, as they captured their first sectional championship since 1997 with a dominant 54-27 win over South Seneca in the Class C3 Final on Friday evening at the Blue Cross Arena.

Top-seeded Honeoye (22-1) came out strong, taking a 16-11 lead after the first quarter before extending their advantage to 26-15 by halftime. By the end of the third quarter, the Bulldogs were firmly in control, leading by 15 points as they pulled away from the second-seeded Falcons (20-3), who managed just 12 points in the second half.

Landon Washburn led the charge for Honeoye with 17 points, 11 of which came after halftime. The sophomore’s standout performance earned him Class C3 Most Valuable Player honors. Owen Cuba and Dylan Washburn also reached double figures with 11 and 10 points, respectively, while Owen Reynolds and Braiden Schneider combined for 16 points to complete the Bulldogs’ scoring.

South Seneca was led by freshman Kyan Miller-Hopkins, who scored all 10 of his points in the second half. Kenny Halsey contributed nine points, Taj Amisano added six, and Logan Laverack chipped in two for the Falcons.

With the victory, Honeoye advances to the Class C regional qualifier next week.
