Alison Rose Foundation donates $10,000 to Finger Lakes Health for infant warmers

Newborns in crisis will now have access to state-of-the-art care at Finger Lakes Health’s emergency departments, thanks to a $10,000 donation from the Alison Rose Foundation. The gift helped purchase two new infant warmers for Geneva General Hospital and Soldiers and Sailors Memorial Hospital.

Amy Carey, co-founder of the Alison Rose Foundation, visited Geneva General Hospital to see the new equipment and meet with hospital staff, including Dr. Matthew Talbott, Chief Medical Officer of Finger Lakes Health.

“Our emergency doctors are trained and ready to provide the care these women and their babies need, but we continuously need to replace and upgrade the equipment we use,” Talbott said. “We are so grateful for the generous donation from the Alison Rose Foundation.”

Carey co-founded the organization in 2020 in honor of her daughter, Ali, who died from Amniotic Fluid Embolism (AFE) while giving birth in 2019. The foundation raises funds to support AFE research and education, as well as medical care for mothers and children. Most of the funding for this donation came from the foundation’s “Bike, Hike and BBQ” fundraiser held last June at Keuka Lake State Park.

“We are committed to helping healthcare organizations provide the best possible care for moms and their babies, particularly in emergent situations,” Carey said. “We are delighted to support Finger Lakes Health’s emergency services with this gift.”
