A Penn Yan man was arrested for driving while intoxicated after crashing his vehicle into a tree, according to the Penn Yan Police Department.
Officers responded to a motor vehicle crash on Franklin Street on February 23 at 4:34 p.m., where they found 55-year-old Sirino Martinez behind the wheel. Police determined that Martinez was operating in an intoxicated condition when he lost control of his vehicle and veered off the road.
Martinez was charged with DWI, moving from a lane unsafely, and consuming alcohol in a motor vehicle. Authorities say he refused to perform sobriety tests or submit to chemical analysis. He was taken into custody and held at the Yates County Jail pending arraignment in CAP Court on Monday morning.
Martinez is scheduled to reappear in Penn Yan Village Court at a later date to answer the charges.
