Subway set to reopen in Wellsville under new owner

  • Staff Report

The Subway restaurant at RiverWalk Plaza in Wellsville will reopen within two weeks under new ownership. Franchisee Matt Hufnagel, who also owns the Hornell location, is overseeing a complete renovation to modernize the space before welcoming customers back.

Hufnagel, who operates 37 Subway stores, decided to revamp the interior rather than rush to reopen. The store will employ 6-10 workers, some already training in Hornell, and will maintain its previous hours of 7:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily.

With a strong local following and a prime location, Hufnagel is confident in the restaurant’s success. He looks forward to reintroducing Subway favorites to the Wellsville community soon.
