The Skaneateles boys’ hockey team claimed its sixth consecutive Section III, Division II title with a 3-2 victory over Christian Brothers Academy/Jamesville-DeWitt in overtime on Monday night at the Upstate Medical University Arena in Syracuse.
Senior Luke Mizro was the hero, burying the game-winning power-play goal 7:32 into the extra period.
Braedan Taggart put the Lakers ahead in the second, but CBA/J-D responded with a shorthanded goal early in the third. Kaden Rutledge put Skaneateles back in front on the power play, only for CBA/J-D to tie it once more with just over six minutes left in regulation.
The Lakers now set their sights on the regional final Saturday at Allyn Arena, aiming for a return to the state Frozen Four at the Harbor Center in Buffalo.
