Cato village residents gear up for elections on March 18

Residents of the Village of Cato will head to the polls on Tuesday, March 18, to elect local leaders. Both villages will hold elections for mayor and board of trustees positions, shaping the future of their communities.


Village of Cato elections

Cato residents will vote for mayor and two Board of Trustees seats. The election will take place from 12 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Village Office.

Candidates

  • Mayor:
    • Anna Owen (current interim mayor, serving since 2024)
    • Dorothy Kraebel (appointed to the Board of Trustees in 2024)
  • Board of Trustees (two seats available):
    • Wally Schatt (current trustee, serving since 2020)
    • Joe Bonnano (appointed in 2024)
    • Tami Defabbio
    • Ryan Grant
    • Pat McCurdy

All ballots are write-in, meaning any eligible voter can run for office. To be eligible, residents must live in the village and be registered to vote in Cayuga County.

Voters who will be out of town or unable to vote in person can request an absentee ballot by calling the village clerk.
