The City of Corning will receive $480,000 in federal funding to improve its wastewater treatment plant, Congressman Nick Langworthy announced on Friday.
The funding, provided through the Environmental Protection Agency, stems from the FY 2022 Consolidated Appropriations Act. It will be used to modernize the facility, ensuring compliance with discharge regulations and advancing sustainability efforts.
“The City of Corning’s wastewater treatment plant has been in need of upgrades for some time,” Langworthy said. “I’m grateful to former Congressman Tom Reed for putting this request forward back in 2022, and I’m pleased the City will now have access to these funds.”
The grant is part of a broader effort to improve water infrastructure nationwide. In 2022, Congress allocated $841 million for 483 water infrastructure projects under the EPA Community Grants program.
Langworthy represents New York’s 23rd Congressional District, which includes parts of Allegany, Cattaraugus, Chautauqua, Chemung, and several other counties.
