  • Staff Report

An Auburn man arrested in a drug bust last year will serve time for a weapon charge. Paul R. Currier, 39, was sentenced to 5.5 years in state prison for attempted criminal possession of a weapon. The sentence, issued by Judge Jon Budelmann, also includes five years of post-release supervision.

Currier was one of three people arrested in an August drug raid, during which police found a gun and ammunition in his home. Prosecutors sought six years, citing his prior offenses, while his attorney argued for leniency, noting his recent stability. Currier expressed a desire to reunite with his son.

His plea deal reduced the charges, dropping a drug-related felony. One co-defendant received eight years, while another was sentenced to probation.
