A former Auburn Community Hospital employee is facing serious charges after stealing over $80,000 in medical equipment and selling it on eBay.
Zachary P. Tabone, was arraigned on Feb. 4 for allegedly stealing over $80,000 in medical supplies, through which he used the hospital’s UPS account to ship 379 packages from September to December 2023.
The investigation began after hospital staff noticed an unusual $7,611 UPS charge. Items stolen included flu tests, bandages, and thermometer probes, with many shipments sent to Brooklyn.
Charged with grand larceny, Tabone is set to appear in court on April 29. He remains free on his own recognizance.
