Penn Yan man arrested for felony criminal mischief in domestic dispute

  • Staff Report

A Penn Yan resident was arrested Monday evening after deputies served an active warrant stemming from a domestic incident.

Richard R. Lewis, 60, was taken into custody on State Route 14 in the Town of Torrey at around 6 p.m., according to a press release from the Yates County Sheriff’s Office. He faces a charge of second-degree criminal mischief, classified as a felony.

Authorities say the charge is related to an incident on February 6, during which Lewis allegedly caused intentional damage to another resident’s property in the Town of Torrey. Following his arrest, Lewis was transported to the Yates County Jail, where he awaits arraignment.

Deputy Aini responded to the scene, with additional support provided by New York State Police. The arrest was processed and announced by Sgt. Campbell later that evening.
