New York State Police in Auburn have located the body of a 66-year-old man who was reported missing on February 2. He was last seen at his cottage on Cross Lake in Cayuga County before his wife reported him missing when he failed to return home.

On Wednesday, search teams identified a potential site where the man’s UTV may have broken through the ice. The New York State Police Underwater Recovery Team (URT) was deployed to investigate the area.
The man’s body was found in Cross Lake following a thorough search. His body has been recovered, though efforts to retrieve the submerged UTV have been hindered by current ice conditions.
The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office assisted in the initial investigation before the case was transferred to the New York State Police. Officials are continuing to investigate and encourage anyone with information to contact them at 585-398-4100.
