Julie M. Kuck, a Justice of the Lindley Town Court in Steuben County, has resigned amid an investigation by the New York State Commission on Judicial Conduct into alcohol-related driving offenses.
According to the Commission, Judge Kuck was informed in November 2024 that she was under investigation for a June 14 incident in which she was charged with several violations of New York’s Vehicle and Traffic Law, including a felony. On October 7, she pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor charge of Driving While Intoxicated (DWI), satisfying all charges against her.
Judge Kuck tendered her resignation on December 23, effective January 10, and agreed never to seek or accept judicial office in the future. The Commission formally accepted the stipulation on January 30, closing the case without further proceedings.
“Driving under the influence endangers everyone on the road. Judges must set a high standard since their behavior is often scrutinized and publicized,” said Commission Administrator Robert H. Tembeckjian in a statement.
Kuck, who is not an attorney, had served as Lindley’s Town Justice since 2017. Her current term would have expired at the end of 2025. The Commission’s full decision and related documents are available on its website.
