Kia is recalling 80,255 Niro crossovers from model years 2023 to 2025 due to faulty wiring that may prevent airbags from deploying properly. The issue affects hybrid, plug-in hybrid, and electric models with manually-adjusted passenger seats. Damaged wiring under the seat can also trigger inadvertent airbag deployment or prevent deactivation when needed.
The company reported two warranty claims but no crashes or injuries. Technicians will inspect and replace damaged wiring, add protective covering, and reposition the wires at no cost to owners. Kia will notify affected customers by mail starting March 14.
Owners seeking more information can contact Kia’s customer service or reference recall number SC332.
