Catholic Charities of the Finger Lakes and the United Way of Seneca County are teaming up to support recovery efforts after a devastating series of fires swept through Ovid last week, displacing families and destroying a significant part of downtown.
The organizations launched the Ovid Fire Fund, which has already raised nearly $70,000 from individuals and businesses. These funds will go directly to those affected, with CCFL’s team beginning distribution through gift cards and other forms of assistance.
For those seeking assistance, CCFL caseworkers are available through scheduled appointments or drop-in visits at the Edith B. Ford Memorial Library on Mondays and Fridays beginning January 31.
The fundraising efforts continue, with donations accepted online at https://tinyurl.com/CCFLOVID. CCFL has been serving the region since 1982, providing advocacy and services to vulnerable populations in Ontario, Seneca, Cayuga, Yates, and Wayne Counties.
