After a devastating fire this week destroyed the Ovid Big M, the only grocery store in the village and within a 20-mile radius, questions remain about what happens next.
While utilities have been fully restored and streets reopened following that fire, the cause remains undetermined. All told, 11 apartments and six businesses were destroyed.
Rebuilding will be costly, with Cirencione estimating millions needed and uncertain insurance support.
The fire left 60 people jobless and displaced at least 15 people. Community support has surged, but it’s unclear what state or federal grants could be available for rebuilding.
