Milo rejects land annexation for housing project

  • / Updated:
  • Staff Report

The Milo Town Council denied a request to annex 70 acres of farmland into the village of Penn Yan for a proposed mixed-use housing and commercial project.

Finger Lakes Economic Development Center CEO Steve Griffin sought the annexation to address housing shortages and workforce needs in Yates County.

Council members cited concerns over the project’s lack of specificity, potential violations of the town’s Comprehensive Plan, and attempts to bypass zoning laws.

They also criticized the absence of an environmental impact statement.
