Police say a Sayre woman was arrested after a hit-and-run turned into a DWI investigation earlier this month.

Police charged Janie L. Smith, 22, after an alleged hit-and-run incident escalated during her DWI arrest in Waverly on Jan. 11. Officers found her car at a nearby convenience store after being called to the Valley Bowling Alley for the crash.

Smith reportedly resisted arrest, refused a breath test, and hurled slurs and threats at officers, including death threats. She faces charges of DWI, obstruction of governmental administration, harassment, and making terroristic threats.

Smith is set to appear in the Village of Waverly Court on Jan. 23.
