A former Auburn Correctional Facility inmate has admitted to attacking two corrections officers in August 2023.
Yakez Cornett, of Ithaca, pleaded guilty in Cayuga County Court to two counts of second-degree assault, according to District Attorney Brittany Grome Antonacci.
Cornett faces five years in prison, followed by five years of post-release supervision.
The sentences will run concurrently but consecutively with his current sentence. Both officers required emergency room treatment, one for a concussion and the other for neck pain. Cornett’s sentencing is set for April 25.
