A 25-year-old man was arrested early Friday after police discovered an illegal handgun and cocaine during an investigation into a domestic incident on Burrall Avenue, authorities said.
Juan J. Galvez-Perez of Geneva was taken into custody around 2:40 a.m. after officers with the City of Geneva Police Department responded to a report of a domestic dispute. While investigating, officers found that Galvez-Perez was in possession of a 9mm handgun equipped with a high-capacity magazine loaded with 11 rounds, according to police.
During processing at the Geneva Police Department, officers found a small bag containing a white powdery substance in Galvez-Perez’s possession, which tested positive for cocaine using a field test kit, officials said. He was charged with criminal possession of a firearm, criminal possession of a weapon in the third degree, and criminal possession of a controlled substance in the seventh degree.
Galvez-Perez was transported to the Ontario County Jail to await arraignment in Centralized Arraignment Court.
