Steuben County sees 17% drop in overdoses in 2024

Steuben County reported a 17% decrease in overdoses in 2024 compared to the previous year, with 288 incidents versus 348 in 2023.

Overdose fatalities also dropped from 13 to 8. Despite a slight increase in December cases, county health officials attribute the overall decline to innovative solutions targeting the opioid crisis.

Narcan use also fell, with 92 doses administered in 2024 compared to 105 in 2023. Resources and training for addiction support remain available, including Narcan training and access to wall boxes through the county’s website.
