The New York Department of Environmental Conservation has tentatively approved a modification to Canandaigua’s State Pollutant Discharge Elimination System permit for its Saltonstall Street water recovery facility.
The modification extends compliance deadlines by nine months to assess new solids-handling equipment.
The draft permit allows treated sewage discharge into the Canandaigua Feeder Outlet Canal, a Class C water body, and includes recent upgrades.
Public comments and hearing requests are due by January 31. The city also announced no significant environmental impact from ongoing improvements to its West Lake Road water treatment plant.
