After 30 years of dedication, Canandaigua firefighters Sam Loiacono and Ron Bement retired together in 2024. The duo, hired a week apart, built a strong bond while responding to countless emergencies, from fires to medical calls, and supporting their community through education and fire safety initiatives.
Loiacono served as captain, overseeing fire safety programs and training, while Bement specialized in fire investigations. Both men leave behind a legacy of professionalism, camaraderie, and life-saving efforts.
Reflecting on their careers, the pair expressed gratitude for their time serving Canandaigua and the lifelong friendship they formed.
