A handful of Senate Democrats, including Bernie Sanders and John Fetterman, are reportedly open to considering Robert F. Kennedy Jr.’s nomination as Health and Human Services Secretary under President-elect Trump, despite widespread Democratic opposition.
Sanders shares Kennedy’s critiques of corporate influence in food and healthcare systems, while Fetterman has shown willingness to engage with Trump’s nominees. Both remain swing votes in the confirmation process, alongside potential support from Sen. Cory Booker.
However, Kennedy’s controversial vaccine views continue to be a major sticking point for many Democrats and could ultimately derail his nomination.
