For the fourth time, the Department of Environmental Conservation has extended the review deadline for Seneca Meadows Inc.’s draft Environmental Impact Statement to January 31, 2025. Officials will announce a public comment period or hearing once the EIS is deemed complete.
The landfill, New York’s largest, processes up to 6,000 tons of waste daily and operates under a permit expiring in December 2025. SMI seeks approval for an upward expansion, potentially extending operations until 2040.
The DEC’s ongoing review will determine if SMI has adequately addressed environmental concerns or if further clarification is needed.
