The United Way of Greater Rochester and the Finger Lakes has announced agreements with 89 local nonprofits to receive multi-year grants totaling over $6 million in 2025, with funding set to begin in January. The initiative marks a strategic effort by United Way to support long-term impact and address the diverse needs of the region through sustained financial commitments.
The grants, which range from two to five years, aim to provide stability for nonprofits serving essential community needs. This funding approach is part of United Way’s broader strategy, which blends traditional grants with new funding opportunities and nonprofit resources to maximize regional impact.
“Our multi-year grants are one way we are helping to support the critical work of local nonprofits and drive impact in our region,” said Jaime Saunders, President and CEO of United Way of Greater Rochester and the Finger Lakes. “Thank you to the generous donors who contributed to our 2024 annual campaign to make these grants possible. We are looking forward to closing gaps and opening opportunities alongside our inspiring partners.”
Among the nonprofits receiving funding are Action for a Better Community, Boys & Girls Clubs of Rochester, Lifespan of Greater Rochester, and the Urban League of Rochester. The full list of recipients reflects a broad range of services, from food assistance and youth development to legal aid and housing support.
Some of the organizations receiving the grants include:
- Catholic Charities Family & Community Services
- Hope Center of Leroy
- Goodwill of the Finger Lakes
- Veterans Outreach Center
- Willow Domestic Violence Center
- YWCA of Rochester and Monroe County
These multi-year grants provide critical support for organizations that rely on consistent funding to deliver programs and services. The funding enables them to plan ahead and maintain vital services for those in need throughout Rochester and the Finger Lakes region.
In addition to these grants, United Way has opened applications for other funding opportunities. Nonprofits can now apply for one-year and activity-based funding programs such as summer program and synergy grants. Additional funding opportunities are expected to be announced in early 2025.
