House Republicans have concluded their investigation into the Jan. 6 Capitol attack by recommending legal action against former GOP Rep. Liz Cheney. The move aligns with Donald Trump’s ongoing efforts to punish those who held him accountable for the riot. Cheney, who was vice chair of the Jan. 6 committee, had voted to impeach Trump and later lost her reelection bid.
The 128-page GOP report claims Cheney engaged in witness tampering during the committee’s investigation, specifically referencing her interactions with key witness Cassidy Hutchinson. Cheney has refuted the allegations, stating the report “disregards the truth” and seeks to cover up Trump’s actions.
The findings also call for prosecuting other Jan. 6 committee members. Meanwhile, Trump continues to promise retribution if he returns to office, including pardons for those convicted in the Capitol attack.
