A fire originating from a wood stove damaged a garage on Kear Road Tuesday evening, but no injuries were reported, according to authorities.
The Ontario County Sheriff’s Office said the fire was reported at 4345 Kear Road in the Town of Bristol at 6:28 p.m. Responding deputies, along with firefighters from the Bristol and Cheshire Fire Departments, arrived on the scene and successfully extinguished the flames.
Dave P. LaBarge, 54, of Canandaigua, was identified as the resident at the property.
Officials determined the fire began in the garage due to a wood stove. No other individuals were reported to be involved in the incident.
The fire was contained to the garage, and no damage to the main residence was noted. Fire officials did not report any injuries, and the extent of the damage to the structure was not immediately available.
Authorities did not specify whether the structure was a total loss, and no information has been provided on any potential displacement of the resident. The Ontario County Sheriff’s Office is continuing to investigate the circumstances of the fire.
