A Seneca Falls man was arrested Monday afternoon after preventing firefighters from extinguishing a blaze at his home, according to police reports.
James A. Jacobs, 63, was taken into custody on December 16 at 2:21 p.m. after police and the Seneca Falls Fire Department responded to a structure fire at a residence on Ovid Street. Authorities say Jacobs refused to leave the property upon their arrival and interfered with firefighters attempting to put out the fire.
Police charged Jacobs with obstructing fire operations, a class A misdemeanor. After his arrest, Jacobs was processed and released with an appearance ticket for the Town of Seneca Falls Court, where he will answer to the charges at a later date.
Once Jacobs was removed from the scene, firefighters were able to quickly extinguish the fire. No injuries were reported.
