Walworth is on track for more development with the recent opening of K2 Brothers Brewing’s taproom and production facility at the former Freewill Elementary School, and a Byrne Dairy set to open early next year at the corner of Routes 441 and 350. These projects are part of a broader push to increase the town’s tax base, according to Town Supervisor Mike Donalty, who recently spoke with RochesterFirst.com.
Donalty, who supports targeted development, aims to attract businesses and amenities to balance the town’s agricultural roots with its status as a “bedroom community.” Planned development along Route 441, near Tri-County Sports Complex, could ease the tax burden on farmers while preserving the town’s rural charm.
Future plans include more housing and potential industrial parks. Though Walworth’s median income makes grants harder to secure, the town’s accessibility to Rochester and major trucking routes makes it appealing to businesses.
