A Sterling woman faces charges after crashing into a parked fire truck during a community event Saturday evening, according to the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office.
Jacqualine Gilfus, 58, of King Road, struck a Red Creek fire truck parked on the shoulder of Main Street in the Village of Red Creek around 6:41 p.m. The truck had its emergency red overhead lights activated for traffic control purposes when the crash occurred.
Deputies conducted roadside field sobriety tests and determined that Gilfus was under the influence of drugs. She was arrested and taken to the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office for processing and chemical testing.
Gilfus was issued multiple traffic tickets, including charges for moving from lane unsafely, failure to exercise due care for a stopped emergency vehicle, speed unreasonable and prudent, and operating a motor vehicle while ability impaired by drugs.
No injuries were reported in the crash. Gilfus is scheduled to appear in Wolcott Town Court at a later date to answer the charges.
