A Rochester man was killed Saturday morning in a single-vehicle crash on Lawrence Hill Road, according to the Ontario County Sheriff’s Office.
Authorities said John T. Sutherland, 61, was driving a 2020 Toyota Tundra northbound on Lawrence Hill Road around 9:26 a.m. when the vehicle veered off the western side of the roadway and came to rest in a ditch.
First responders from Hemlock and Richmond fire departments, along with Richmond Ambulance, arrived on the scene and found Sutherland with no signs of life. Life-saving measures were immediately attempted, but he was pronounced dead at the scene.
The Ontario County Sheriff’s Office Reconstruction Team and Criminal Investigation Division investigated the crash, and Lawrence Hill Road was closed for about three hours during the investigation.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
