A Port Byron man was arrested twice within a 24-hour span after an alleged domestic disturbance and subsequent violation of a court order.

Cayuga County Sheriff’s deputies responded to the Church Street Apartments on November 24 at approximately 6:38 p.m. following reports of a domestic incident. An investigation determined that Maurice D. Streeter had threatened physical harm to the victim and chased them out of their apartment in the presence of three children.

Streeter was arrested and charged with third-degree menacing and endangering the welfare of a child, both misdemeanors. He was arraigned the next morning in CAP Court, released on his own recognizance, and issued a full stay-away order of protection for the victim and children.

Later that day, deputies were called back to the Church Street Apartments at approximately 3:39 p.m. Streeter was arrested again after allegedly violating the order of protection. He was charged with four counts of second-degree criminal contempt, one for each protected individual.

Following the second arrest, Streeter was arraigned and remanded to the Cayuga County Jail in lieu of $10,000 cash or $20,000 bond.
