A Newark man was killed Thursday in a single-vehicle accident on Blass Road in the Town of Conquest, according to the Cayuga County Sheriff’s Office.
The driver, identified as Arthur Wilferth, 49, was pronounced dead at the scene after his 2013 Chevrolet Impala veered off the roadway and struck a tree. Authorities reported that a single passenger in the vehicle suffered minor injuries and was treated by emergency medical personnel.
Sheriff Brian Schenck said deputies responded to the crash around 3:35 p.m. on Thanksgiving. The incident remains under investigation, with assistance from multiple agencies, including the Cayuga County Coroner’s Office, New York State Police, and local fire departments.
