Marius Borg Høiby, the 27-year-old son of Norwegian Crown Princess Mette-Marit, has been released from custody following his arrest last week in Oslo on preliminary rape charges. Borg Høiby, who holds no royal title or official duties, is accused of engaging in sexual intercourse with someone unable to resist, according to Norwegian authorities.

Police said they no longer see a risk of evidence tampering after reviewing materials and conducting witness interviews. Borg Høiby’s lawyer, Øyvind Bratlien, criticized the arrest, stating his client should never have been detained. The royal palace has declined to comment, while police revealed a separate investigation into another sexual offense.

The case continues as Borg Høiby denies the allegations against him.
