The death of a 19-year-old Walmart employee found in a walk-in oven at a Halifax store last month has been deemed non-suspicious by police.
Gursimran Kaur, who worked in the bakery, was discovered by her mother after she went missing during her shift. Authorities found no signs of foul play after reviewing footage, conducting interviews, and collaborating with the medical examiner.
Nova Scotia’s labor department briefly halted bakery operations for safety checks, later confirming the oven met manufacturer standards. The department now leads the ongoing workplace investigation. Kaur and her mother, both from India, had worked at the store for two years. A fundraiser launched by the Maritime Sikh Society supports the grieving family.
