MSNBC’s Mika Brzezinski and Joe Scarborough revealed they met with President-elect Donald Trump at Mar-a-Lago on Friday, marking their first in-person conversation in seven years.
Once close allies, their relationship soured during Trump’s presidency. Brzezinski described the meeting as a chance to “restart communications” despite past tensions, comparing it to her father’s diplomatic efforts during the Carter administration.
The trio reportedly discussed divisive topics, including abortion and mass deportations, with Trump expressing interest in finding common ground. While Brzezinski and Scarborough emphasized their intent was not to normalize Trump but to foster understanding, some MSNBC colleagues criticized the meeting.
Trump called the discussion “cordial” but reiterated his condition for engaging with the press: fair treatment.
