A two-car collision early Friday morning in the Town of Phelps left two drivers injured and sent one to a Rochester hospital for further evaluation.
The accident occurred around 5:02 a.m. on County Road 6, when John E. Vancamp, 65, of Phelps, was driving his 2017 Nissan pickup truck southbound. According to the Ontario County Sheriff’s Office, Vancamp crossed into the oncoming lane, colliding head-on with a northbound 2008 Jeep Grand Cherokee driven by Michael A. Borino, 60, also of Phelps.
Emergency crews from Oaks Corners Fire Department and North Seneca EMS responded to the scene. Vancamp was transported to Geneva General Hospital for a medical check, while Borino was taken to Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester for further evaluation.
Authorities temporarily closed the roadway while emergency personnel rendered aid and cleared the scene. Both vehicles were towed by Danny’s Garage and Geneva Foreign and Sports. Vancamp was issued a traffic citation for failure to keep right and is scheduled to appear in Phelps Town Court at a later date.
