Phelps man convicted of child sexual assault, faces life sentence

A Phelps man has been convicted of predatory sexual assault against a child and faces 10-25 years to life in prison. Tristin Elliott, 27, was found guilty on October 4 by an Ontario County jury for sexually abusing a child younger than 13 between 2014 and 2017.

The victim’s testimony played a crucial role in the conviction. District Attorney Jim Ritts and Assistant District Attorney Kaitlin Hastings led the prosecution, which began in 2022.

Elliott’s sentencing is set for January 8 before Ontario County Court Judge Kristina Karle.
