Steuben County Father and Son Arrested for Involvement in January 6th Capitol Riot

A father and son from Steuben County were arrested last week for their alleged involvement in the January 6th Capitol attack. Charles Schimmel Sr. and Logan Schimmel are accused of being among the first rioters to breach the Capitol, according to court documents.

The pair reportedly attended the “Stop the Steal” rally before joining the mob that stormed the Capitol. Photos from the U.S. Attorney’s Office show the Schimmels at the front lines, clashing with Capitol Police and entering restricted areas like the Speaker of the House Office Suite.
