The National Weather Service has issued a Severe Thunderstorm Watch for the entirety of the Finger Lakes, Southern Tier, and Central New York. The primary concerns for storms that develop this afternoon are damaging winds, hail, and heavy rain. Follow the local radar below to track storms as they develop. Morning Update

The National Weather Service says there’s an increased risk for strong-to-severe thunderstorms this afternoon as a cold front moves through the Finger Lakes and Central New York. Temperatures will reach the low 80s before the front arrives, bringing threats of damaging winds and hail, particularly south of the thruway and into the Finger Lakes.

Two waves of storms are expected: the first in the early afternoon and the second in the evening, both capable of severe weather. The National Weather Service advises staying weather-aware and monitoring updates throughout the day.

Rain will continue Tuesday, though without storm activity. Temperatures will cool into the 70s following Monday’s front, and drier weather is expected midweek. However, remnants of Tropical Storm Debby could bring additional rain later in the week.
