The New York Yankees (56-38) got back in the win column on Wednesday night, holding off the Tampa Bay Rays (45-47) 2-1 at Tropicana Field.
Trent Grisham was the star of the game as he drove in both runs with an RBI double in the second inning and a sacrifice fly in the fourth. He also made a terrific running catch in the eighth to save two runs.
Marcus Stroman surrendered the lone run over 4.1 innings before the bullpen locked it down. Clay Holmes recorded a four-out save, his first since June 9.
The Rays went 0-for-10 with runners in scoring position while leaving 12 guys on base.
The Yankees will try to win their first series since June 10-13 when they hand the ball to Nestor Cortes on Thursday at 6:50 p.m.
