Tractor Supply halts Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion efforts after backlash from rural customers

Tractor Supply Co. is stopping its Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) efforts following criticism from conservative customers. The company announced changes to ensure that customer dollars support community-focused activities.

Key changes include ending data submissions to the Human Rights Campaign, refocusing employee groups on business support, prioritizing rural America causes like agriculture education and veteran support, and halting sponsorships for non-business activities such as pride festivals.

The move comes after conservative activist Robby Starbuck posted a video criticizing the company for supporting the LGBTQ+ community. Some LGBTQ+ supporters have since vowed to shop elsewhere.

The company operates an array of locations across the Finger Lakes and Central New York.
