  • Staff Report

Ontario County officials will host an open house to discuss a development plan for the freight rail corridor in Geneva and Phelps. The event is set for 6-8 p.m. on July 8 at Finger Lakes Community College’s Geneva Campus Center. The public is invited to attend and use the main entrance near the flagpole.

The plan aims to identify industrial development opportunities, address safety concerns, and support planning along the rail corridor. It builds on a similar plan completed in Manchester in 2018. The open house will introduce the project and gather community input on issues and opportunities related to the rail corridor.

The goals include identifying areas for industrial development, enhancing safety, updating municipal plans, and evaluating economic impacts. Ontario County is partnering with local municipalities, the Finger Lakes Railway, the Genesee Transportation Council, and the state Department of Transportation.
